Rezoning Application - Approved July 2023
TCHC and Tridel submitted a rezoning application to the City of Toronto in April 2022 seeking planning permission for 1,200 more units of housing than previously planned for on the Regent Park Phases 4 and 5 lands. The rezoning submission was developed in consultation with Regent Park community members. In over 1,500 resident interactions, TCHC and Tridel used surveys, virtual community meetings, focus groups and engagement with community organizations to develop a plan that centres on the vision Regent Park residents have for their community.
In December 2022, TCHC and Tridel resubmitted the rezoning application following the City’s feedback and consultation with the community. The resubmission addressed the City’s comments and incorporated technical changes that maintain the original vision reflected in the April submission.
Following additional feedback from the City, TCHC and Tridel resubmitted the rezoning application in April 2023. The updated application addressed the City’s ask for additional technical changes while continuing to deliver more affordable housing units, community amenities and high-quality open spaces for the benefit of the community.
In July 2023, the City of Toronto approved the rezoning application for Phases 4-5 , setting the stage for hundreds of new affordable homes, including 633 RGI units, a new Toronto Public Library and up to 637 net-new social housing units.
